Description
This piece is based on the transformation process done by eagles when they reach their middle age when they have to decide to either molt or die. The upper part is people’s feelings and their need to reinvent themselves by their fragility and isolation. The lower part represents nature at its maximum splendor, plants' blooming, and the animals in their free will. During the COVID-19 isolation process, the artist dreamed of returning to a different world when the quarantine was over. This piece shows Marcela’s aspiration to enjoy balance, peace, and harmony with nature; a reunion based on reconciliation, love, admiration, and respect. The juxtaposition of the rings in the third section represents the fish as a symbol of life and unity restating once again Marcela’s connection with animals and the sea. She used metal, wool, synthetic fibers, melted glass, and seashells – collected in Camp Helen, FL – her favorite beach, for this piece.
